Turning the Page: New Ideas to Get Maine Working
Maine is worth fighting for. But our state faces some monumental challenges. Maine needs Paul
LePage as its next Governor. Paul has a real-world record of accomplishment. He is a leader who has faced incredible challenges and succeeded.
Paul LePage is the Governor that Maine needs to chart a new course.
- More Jobs for Maine Families
Paul will get government out of the way and allow Maine’s small businesses to create jobs. It’s time to get Maine working again, and that means tearing down the roadblocks that establishment politicians have built over the past 40 years. Smaller, smarter government is the key to new jobs and financial security for Maine families.
- Lower Taxes, Controlled Spending
Paul will reduce Maine’s excessive tax burden so Maine families can keep more of their own money. You know how best to spend or save your hard-earned wages, not government. Paul will control state spending to guarantee lower taxes, while ensuring our highest priorities and programs for our most vulnerable neighbors are supported.
- From Welfare to Opportunity
Welfare should be a temporary helping hand to get Mainers back on their feet – not a lifestyle and ticket to permanent dependence on government. Paul’s Welfare reforms value productivity and the need to get Maine working. Paul’s plan will make sure Mainers who need help most will be taken care of, while creating a series of benchmarks and incentives so a job becomes a better choice than welfare.
- Student-Focused Education Reforms
Past education reforms have tightened the grip of union bosses and bureaucrats instead of preparing students to compete in a global economy. Paul’s student-focused education reforms prioritize spending so teachers, kids and classrooms have the resources for success, and will create new affordable education options for all Maine students.
- Patient-Centered Health Care
Maine needs more competition in its health insurance and health care markets. Paul will fight the establishment and special interests so we have more affordable health care options. Paul will also reform government to make Maine’s health care system more efficient, so patients and families have peace of mind they are receiving top-notch, affordable care anywhere in the state.
- Energy Independence and Efficiency
Paul’s energy policy is very simple: Maine people and Maine companies will have the opportunity to make energy choices that put price ahead of politics. Paul’s administration will not be in the business of picking favorites when it comes to energy. In fact, Paul’s plan is to let consumers make their own choices, while his administration focuses on policies that offer consumers choices that lower their energy costs.
- Your Right to Know
Every Maine citizen has a right to know what government is up to and how it spends our tax dollars. Paul will require all state spending to be posted online, and he will fight for stronger laws to protect and expand Maine citizens’ right to access information from state and local government. When Paul is Governor, open government will be a reality, not a talking point.
- Local Government, Local Control
As Mayor of Waterville, Paul knows the grip Augusta has on our local communities. Unfunded mandates, broken promises, and unreasonable regulations force too many communities to raise property taxes. Paul will eliminate the unnecessary policies driving up our local tax burden, and will make the state an ally, not a roadblock, to local governments trying to serve the people.
- Transportation Priorities
A strong efficient transportation network is vital to the economic success of Maine. Paul knows that transportation dollars are limited and valuable. As Governor, Paul will make sure our transportation dollars are spent wisely and efficiently.
- Your Right to Bear Arms
Paul supports the 2nd amendment–no exceptions. Article I, Section 16 of the Maine Constitution says it best:
“Every citizen has a right to keep and bear arms and this right shall never be questioned.”
- Traditional Values
As the eldest son of eighteen children, and a parent of five children, Paul knows how important it is to protect the traditional Maine values that have created strong communities and strong families across the state.
